Black moonstone is named for its dark base color, which is usually black, dark gray, or dark blue. What makes this stone truly special is the brilliant optical phenomenon known as "adularescence." This effect causes a silvery or blue shimmer that seems to move and change when the stone is turned or moved.Black moonstone gets its characteristic luster and color from small inclusions of minerals such as hematite or ilmenite.

Large +/- 50g à 50x25x25mm.

Origin Madagascar.
