This fossilized tooth of the Mosasaurus dates back to the Late Cretaceous, approximately 70 million years ago. During that period, mosasaurs reigned as apex predators in the shallow seas that covered parts of present-day Morocco. Deposits of sand, silt, and limestone allowed the material to gradually fossilize.

The Mosasaurus was a large marine reptile, related to monitor lizards and snakes, with powerful jaws and sharp teeth designed to grab and tear apart prey.

Mosasaurus tooth +/- 9g at 35x23x18mm.
