Chrysoprase is a green variety of chalcedony, a quartz mineral. It owes its green color to traces of nickel and sometimes iron. Chrysoprase is prized for its bright, fresh green hues, ranging from light green to deep green. The name "chrysoprase" is derived from the Greek words "chrysos", meaning "gold", and "prasios", meaning "green".
